New Delhi/Lucknow/Bangalore: Moving towards a major breakthrough in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case probe, the CBI on Friday arrested Krishna, compounder of the jailed Noida dentist, for his alleged role in the destruction of evidence.
The agency also quizzed Rajkumar, servant of the Durranis, professional associates of Talwars, and looked set to question senior executive of a well-known industrial concern of Noida. As these fast-paced developments raised the possibility of the agency being on the verge of a breakthrough, a team of investigators accompanied by forensic experts ran a psychological assessment test on Rajesh Talwar in the Dasna jail in the light of leads gathered from Krishna.
Krishna was arrested after he failed to satisfactorily reply to questions from the CBI team handling him as to whether he helped destroy evidence—essentially, disposal of weapon of offence and cellphones of Aarushi and Hemraj. The compounder has been held under sections 201 (tampering with evidence), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 302 of the IPC. Krishna who, according to sources, had cleared the tests so far as his role in the murders was concerned, twice failed the lie-detector as well as the psychological assessment test he was made to take. “He engaged in deception in the lie-detector tests and his replies were inconsistent,” said a source. CBI joint director Arun Kumar told the media that the compounder was arrested on the basis of findings of “scientific test”.
The tests on Krishna also fetched the CBI crucial leads on the possible role of Rajkumar, help of Durranis, in the actual crime, as different from just the destruction of evidence that Krishna has been charged with, and a senior executive of the Noida-based private firm who happens to be very close to Rajesh Talwar.
Rajkumar is believed to be very close to the Talwars and a trusted attendant of Dr Anita Durrani. He often visited the Talwar household, and was well known to Hemraj as well. Sleuths were tracking down his mobile phone records to establish his location at the time of the murders and his calls during that period.
Again, it was Krishna who revealed during the lie-detector tests about the presence of Talwars’ friend, senior executive of the Noida-based private company, on the spot just after the killing. <<back
